Defected Records

New era for a house music legend

New era for a house music legend

We’ve helped one of the most influential record labels in the UK launch their ‘New Era’, embracing music streaming without losing their commitment to physical events.

Defected Records – an institution in UK dance music since 1999 – brought us on board to design the company’s new headquarters in London’s Shoreditch. The building is intended to embody the label’s belief in global connectivity, at a time when music consumption via streaming platforms is booming around the world.

Physical events ground to a halt in 2020, but the new building allows Defected to bring the vibrancy of live music direct into people’s homes. Spread over two levels with a floor dedicated to facilitating events, it hosts a studio with state-of-the-art technology for music recording, live streaming and content creation. There’s capacity for over 100 people in-person and millions more tuning in digitally, primed for parties, panels, workshops, screenings and more. All designed to bring the energy and life of the label to Defected’s office and recording space.
