We worked with Workspace, London’s leading provider of flexible office space, to transform the communal areas of their Metal Box Factory serviced offices in Southwark.

The space, which occupies an old 19th Century industrial factory, has a huge communal area under a vaulted atrium. Our brief was to create a community space for customers to dwell, socialise and hold meetings in. Since the pandemic, people have been working in different ways and therefore, spaces have needed to adapt.

The space features a staircase that leads onto a bridge overlooking the entire communal area. To make more of a statement of the bridge, we added seating and lots of greenery to make it more usable for customers. The proportions of the space allowed for lots of bold colour to be used, including a red oxide that references the building’s industrial past.
