Exoskeleton skatebowl at Selfridges
Exoskeleton skatebowl at Selfridges
We teamed up with The Mighty-Mighty to create the first in-store skate bowl inside the flagship store of one of London’s biggest names in retail.
The installation, within the menswear department of Selfridges, pays homage to the original travelling skate park structures of the 1970s and was engineered by specialist skate builders Four One Four. Shoppers are invited to watch the action through the transparent Plexiglas cladding, while the bowl is designed to extend as high as possible without obstructing sight lines. Crucially, the structure had to be genuinely challenging to skaters because the brand’s authenticity relied on it being appealing and rewarding to use.
The result is an installation that encourages social engagement, builds community and always feels alive, with regular skateboarding lessons and events curated by the fashion industry’s largest brands and magazines.
