We have designed Aries’s first permanent store, a 385 Sq m space in Soho, in collaboration with The Wilson Brothers.
The brand’s first bricks and mortar store is a fully flexible space with no hierarchy, functioning as both a curated concept store and art space that will host collaborations, events, art installations and takeovers. To ensure flexibility was built into the very shell of the site, the walls are peppered with holes that the shelving system can be attached to, making them easily reconfigured and modular in design.
A unique aesthetic that combines industrial utilitarianism with touches of premium materials has been created for the Soho space and Brinkworth has embraced the building’s original fabric where possible. Brinkworth’s workshop BrinkWorks hand crafted the retail system, including main central wooden midfloor units which are a respectful adaptation of a prototype designed by Simon Batten for a 2018 Aries pop-up in Covent Garden.
A bespoke scaffold staircase, another nod to the 2018 pop-up, leads down to the basement, with offcut granite treads in an array of colours and grains. Currently the basement, a space that lends itself particularly well to events, collaborations and installations, is home to pop-ups from vintage re-sell brand; Jerks™ and London luxury unisex jewellery brand; Bunney.
